GWS group increases turnover for seventh time in succession

The GWS corporate group can reflect on a successful business year 2017. As the approved annual financial statements show, turnover for the group – which incorporates GWS Gesellschaft für Warenwirtschafts-Systeme mbH as well as NEUTRASOFT IT für den Handel GmbH & Co. KG, SANGROSS GMBH & Co. KG and DIACOM Systemhaus GmbH – rose to €54.3 million.

The seventh increase in succession amounted to approximately seven percent on the previous year, when turnover of roughly €51 million was achieved. License proceeds from strong business activity with new and established customers, productive projects and the continuing vigorous expansion of consultancy services were responsible for the latest growth of the company, which now employs more than 400 staff members in Münster, Munich, Nuremberg, Leonberg, Isernhagen and Hamburg.

As the figures show, the growth of the GWS group in 2017 once again comfortably surpassed the general development of gross domestic product and information technology in Germany. With software, IT services and IT hardware expanding by 3.6 percent in 2017 according to data from BITKOM (the German association for IT, telecommunications and new media), the corresponding value for the GWS group approached nine percent. According to Georg Mersmann, Managing Director of GWS along with Udo Lorenz, “In achieving above average growth once again, we have proven ourselves to be a reliable partner to our customers, assisting them in the important areas of digitalization and eCommerce.” On the basis of this expertise, the comprehensive product range and the outstanding workforce the GWS group was ideally positioned to face the future, according to the Managing Director. “We are looking ahead with strong confidence, and have no doubt we can continue expanding,” says Mersmann.

Licenses most important source of revenue

Licenses once again constituted the main source of revenue for the GWS group in 2017 thanks to a large number of new customers as well as established client business. As of the end of 2017, the company had sold more than 50,000 licenses for the core GWS products of gevis ERP | NAV and gevis ERP | AX; these are ERP systems specially designed for the trade sector, based on the Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft

Dynamics AX platforms. Business with individual projects and add-on products also developed positively over the past year. Alongside document management and business intelligence solutions, these included eCommerce and mobility applications that generate significant advantages for users in combination with an ERP system while focusing, among other things, on internet business. An expansion in consultancy and many other services also contributed to the positive economic situation in 2017.

Steady increase of the workforce

The encouraging economic development for the GWS group also has a direct influence on the number of employees: the staffing level grew steadily to exceed 400 across the various sites in Germany. The company remains on the lookout for professional and well trained project managers, consultants and software developers. As Managing Director Udo Lorenz confirms, “Anyone with experience in the trade sector who is looking for a challenging role with good social benefits, and above all those who want to gain from excellent teamwork, should not hesitate to apply to us.” Erfolg in allen Bereichen
