Münster won one seat of a regional centre of the Digital Economy

The winners of the competition for regional centers of the Digital Economy have been determined. In Aachen, Bonn, Düsseldorf, Cologne, Münster and the Ruhr area will be created so called DWNRW hubs, which will be funded by the state with up to €12.5 million euros. More than 70 companies and institutions in the Münsterland plan to set up the digital hub as an association. Among others, the GWS, the technology funding of Münster GmbH, the regional economic development agency, the IHK of Nordwestfalen as well as the Chamber of Crafts of Münster are partners of MSland.digital.

The management of the GWS, Udo Lorenz and Georg Mersmann, sees a major benefit in the optimal utilization of the creativity in the region: for new technologies and a real value for the GWS as ERP service provider. “A network which encourages the cooperation with the digital world of start-ups and which is clearly focused on a competitive future”, explained Lorenz.

In the next step, the cities will submit their final applications by fulfilling the respective requirements. The hubs can then receive a funding up to €1.5 million for three years. Furthermore, it exists a possible extension of two years. The regions contribute a co-payment of the same amount.
