That's why Microsoft
is a great partner for you!

One of the key lessons of the COVID 19 crisis is ...

… that the level and quality of your IT capabilities has a huge impact on the resilience of your organization, the robustness of your business processes, and sometimes even your chances of survival. But are you working with the right strategic IT vendors and partners? Are they able to survive on their own? And if so, are they financially strong enough to continue the heavy investment in ongoing innovation of their products and services? All relevant questions, right?

Around 2013, Microsoft was considered a kind of old-school IT vendor. Clearly a large vendor with a strong position and a large customer base! But also a rather slow organization that often reacted too late to changing market requirements. And an organization that, despite huge annual R&D investments, was not very effective at developing innovative products and services.

Satya Nadella

Radical change of strategy

The appointment of Satya Nadella as the new CEO in 2014 proved to be the beginning of a radical change. On the product side, he introduced the “cloud first, mobile first” strategy, which was quite progressive at the time. But Nadella’s best contribution was in the area of corporate culture. He challenged the entire organization to move from a “know-it-all” culture to a “learn-it-all” culture.

His leadership was effective in destroying internal silos and he was a strong promoter of better collaboration between departments. Nadella implemented a “growth mindset” on a grand scale.

The first results of these efforts and new strategies were quickly visible. The bold decision to follow a cloud-first strategy led to enormous growth in cloud revenues. Lucrative cooperation agreements were signed with former sworn competitors such as SAP, Salesforce and Apple. And many of the strong “one-category products” gradually became part of an attractive, intelligent cloud platform.

Sales and profits grew spectacularly. And that turned shareholders into happy investors. In the 7 years since Nadella took over as CEO, Microsoft’s market cap has grown from $300 billion to $1.9 trillion. That’s a six-fold increase in just 7 years – an unprecedented feat!

Leading the way in digital transformation

Microsoft is now widely perceived as a true leader in digital transformation. The company’s mission is to empower every individual and every organization on the planet to achieve more. At the end of the day, isn’t that what IT is for? And that’s exactly what Microsoft is doing. The company is still the undisputed industry leader when it comes to investing in research and development, but they also have the courage to move quickly when it comes to acquiring valuable technologies. Strong innovations are being brought to market at a rapid pace, all reinforcing Microsoft’s powerful intelligent cloud platform.

A recent example of product development is the launch of Microsoft Viva, an integrated employee experience solution. Another example is the recent acquisition of Nuance Healthcare, an artificial speech recognition company, for nearly $20 billion – the second largest acquisition in the company’s history.

Innovative business applications

Microsoft offers a variety of applications to strengthen your relationship with your customers, run an effective business, create a resilient supply chain, and improve your financial health. These solutions are united under the Dynamics 365 umbrella. These Dynamics 365 solutions are at the heart of the Microsoft platform and can serve as the backbone for your digital transformation initiatives. The solutions are also available in dozens of localizations to support your business if you have plans to internationalize your business.

Benefit from the advantages of the partner network

Microsoft is a partner-driven company. This means that Dynamics 365 solutions are sold, implemented and supported by a large network of individual business partners, such as GWS. Your advantage is that you can combine Microsoft’s generic strengths with the partner’s industry focus, specific solutions and experienced staff. The same partner network limits your risks and gives you the opportunity to include other partners’ products in your solution.

Benefit from the platform approach

Over the past few years, Microsoft has evolved from a vendor that delivers more or less standalone ERP and CRM solutions to a company that is building and expanding an innovative, intelligent cloud platform. Unlike other large software vendors, Microsoft is in a unique position to truly offer businesses an end-to-end solution. This platform is built on three key elements:

Microsoft’s goal is to integrate all of these solutions and more into its intelligent cloud platform.

Continuous innovation

Microsoft spends about $13 billion annually on research and development. The company can only afford this kind of spending because of its strong long-term financial performance. This annual investment makes Microsoft the undisputed leader in the industry, which is very important for all current and future Microsoft customers, as we stand on the cusp of an era of nearly limitless IT possibilities. Today, we see cloud technology spurring further innovation in areas such as artificial intelligence, low-code development, machine learning, robotic process automation, and virtual reality. And we can only guess what’s coming next.

Microsoft is one of the very few companies in the world that combines a strong market position with consistently strong financial performance and a continuous drive for further innovation. In addition, the company has both the skills, experience and solutions to create and grow a unique end-to-end platform that helps organizations around the world achieve more.

Choosing Microsoft and the Microsoft platform means choosing a stream of innovation that will never dry up.

Where is your data safest?

In 2020, Microsoft was awarded the Joint Enterprise Defense Infrastructure contract by the Pentagon, the headquarters of the US Armed Forces. Of all organizations and companies in the world, this is probably the organization that values trustworthiness the most – and has the most to lose! This contract should help relieve the nervousness in many organizations concerning cloud security.

Microsoft has over 3,500 full-time cybersecurity engineers and invests $1 billion annually in cybersecurity. So there is no question that Microsoft data center security is far better than the average SMB company’s server room and IT staff. Your company included?
